Hi everyone; I'm fairly new to pen turning; however I really enjoy turning wood on a lathe, or indeed any or a mixture of mediums. I have recently started a business and have called it "Gary's Pens & Turnings". I had a full career in the Royal Navy, joined as a junior seaman in 1973 and retired as an Lieutenant (Helicopter Observer) in 1996. Following that I became an SAR winch operator/winchman and operated out of Shannon airport on the west coast of Ireland. I took early retirement due to health issues in 2010. Turning is a hobby for me, which I find extremely relaxing and has now become a business. My other hobby, is building and flying model radio controlled helicopters, some with rotor span diameters of up to 1.8 metres (6 feet in old money). Myself and a bunch of fellow members of our club, fly aerobatics and we're always striving to learn a new trick. I live in Folly Gate, near Okehampton in Devon, UK. I'm hoping to learn from all of you more experienced turners. Gary
