I've always been interested in off centre tilted turning but haven't done much lately because of safety issues. I saw a demo at our club this month by Rick Dobney & he did some off centre work using a home made jig. We were so impressed my son in law & I have made a jig each, his 10" diameter & mine 16" diameter.
The jigs are made from 11/4" thick HDPE & the jaws are 3" x 2" dressed. The knobs are from Axi & Rick supplied the jaw linings. Thanks Rick. A mini ratchet strap goes around the jaws to tighten every thing up as well as the knobs on the back.
I can get up to 7" in between the jaws.

That is one nice jig Bill, look forward to seeing what you produce on it.

As the Actress said to the Bishop :funny::whistling:

Seriously though Bill, that's a great idea. I did my first piece of off centre turning at the weekend, a handle for a shield.
Nowhere near as scarey as a winged bowl :whistling:

Wow substantial device Bill one of the real benefits of club membership personified, much more fun making two of it takes no more set up than for one and gives association on the way for a job well done, congratulations also loved the pics mate.

Peter.
