I had one of those eureka moments about a new 'clamshell' box design - nothing revolutionary but something new to me. All of my family and friends are saying the new design should replace my current one (see Alex's thread here for one of those).
What do you think? I made a single and a double box, the double has monogramming just to show what's possible. They are surprisingly simple to make and unlike the current ones can be made from timber that's only a half inch thick. (Which means I can turn matching pens and boxes in most timbers, whereas before I was restricted to oak and cherry for the boxes because I needed 45mm thickness.) The clamshells are held together by tiny neodymium magnets which are surprisingly strong.
Dimensions are Single 170x50x25mm (Closed), Double 170x75x25 (Closed).
Opinions please!
Oh, and Farhan, if you're reading this - No, I can't make you these for less than a tenner. Thanks for asking, though ...
