Just one this week.
A chrome Omega roller ball from TM. Dressed in Wenge (thanks goodtimber.com), Finished in melamine and wax.
I found this wood very hard to turn and blunted my tools very quickly. But the lustre in the wood is stunning.

About the very best Wenge grain I have seen it is tough timber with inclusions the reward is great. A pro detail joiner used 1/2 a mile well it looked like it for hand rails in our huge parliament house (outstanding).

Beautiful pen. I have a love/hate relationship with Wenge. Like you stated its hard on tools and can be very chippy. I usually wet sand with ca to fill the pores.

Hi Terry,
I sand to 600 grit, then 2 coats of sanding sealer. Then wet sand to 12000 grit, cleaning and sealing between coats. This seems to give a very deep lustre to the wood. try it!

Hi Peter,
I tend to use "Chestnut" products. I mix a 3:1 mix of cellulose thinners to sanding sealer and let them dry off before sanding and sealing again.
Hope that helps.
