My hut, which I call my workshop is twelve by eight with a more recent extension added by my son. I insulated the main bit with two inch expanded polystyrene, walls and ceiling. The newer bit has that paper covered orange insulation board, the name of which escapes me, three inch on ceiling, two inch thick on sides, Under floor that wool fibre glass. I have an oil filled radiator on most of the time, not very high, the insulation is the key. I run a fan heater if I need it when in there so as not to change the setting on the oil filled one. I would definitely avoid log burners. My nephew used a calor gas cylinder to make a wood heater, called a rocket stove, uses very little fuel. Can be found on u tube.

Whole range of experiences in the UK cheaper than over here space to build is not such a problem for us. My workshop is a double brick garage with two carports in front now built in and adjoining walk through my problem is hoarding equipment suit handyman.

Peter.
