I plan to get some wood in to store for future use, i though i would seal the end grain with wax but have no idea where to get it. I am guessing it does not have to be super duper wax just the cheap variety as it will just seal the grain. I have an old pressure cooker i use in the garage so that would be perfect just as a receptacle to warm the wax in.

Ant ideas where i can get this wax, i don't think a couple of candles will do doubt they are even made of real wax these days anyway.

Bit of an update, i'm guessing paraffin was may be best, clear, uncoloured of course.

I have used PVA for sealing end grain for a number of years now with a good success rate. You can get a 5lt container of if for well under a tenner.

Another one here for watered down PVA as it goes a lot further.

Sun? What's that? +1 for PVA. I usually get mine from Wilkinsons. It is certainly easier to apply and seems to work pretty well. I just dilute it with a little water and apply with a brush.

I have been using Chestnut End Seal that I bought years ago, but after all the other comments, once this is gone i'll save some money & use PVA :thinks:
