Pair of Mistrals in an oak burr

Evening all, the fountain pen has a Bock nib (fine) otherwise it's a normal kit. I prefer the metal to match up. The burr is from Linga Terra - otherwise known as Dave. Turning was a steady process of taking a bit off - filling in the holes - taking a bit more - filling in the holes - et al. But...

    Firewood

Sorting out firewood and keep getting distracted! Found a bit of Hawthorn yesterday and made this 5" at the round by 3" bowl. Today I found a bit of Berberis and stopped sorting again! (5" x 2 1/2") Will this chore ever end?

    TM Athena

Hi All, Can't go anywhere today unless it's on skis so I thought I would make this. First time I have made a button push pen. It went together very well. The instructions say use a 25/64 twist bit but a 10mm bit works just as well. Lovely kit from TM. Cheers Frederik

    Problems with my drill setup

Hi, and Happy New Year to all! I have finally got round to getting some kit for pen turning. I went for the Axminster Precision Pro lathe in the end which looks to be a nice setup. I know it is limited in terms of size but for the foreseeable future I am focusing only on pens. One of the...

    Another bit of burl

Hi all, Braved the cold workshop. The burl wood played up a bit again not allowing the brass tube to enter the blank after drilling. Managed to fir it this time though. Good fun, I love this game. Cheers, Frederick

    Weird Wood

Hello all, Today I decided to make some wood pen blanks for some Sierra pens. I found a suitable piece of Burr Elm and prepared it for the brass tube only to find that the tube would not completely enter . I took the blank back to the drill thinking that all it needed was a cleaning out. Still...

    Cactus Juice

I did some work for a customer on the CNC machine some time ago where they supplied the wood, Elm in this case & some of it was Elm Bur, I was able to make some blanks from the scrap & turned a few pens but quite a bit of it was to soft to be able to do anything with as it was. I looked at using...

    Getting there

Hi all, This is made from stabilised Olive wood and has CA finish. I enjoyed making this one. Unfortunately, the stabilisation process darkened the wood quite a bit. This time i placed more light on it when i took the picture in hope that the definition of the grain would improve.

    My attempts at Woodturning

Morning all, Well here goes, be gentle with me :funny: These were my 2nd and 3rd attempts at woodturning. I made them a year or so ago and I thoroughly enjoyed making them. I must confess I was a bit nervous at first as I'm very unsteady on my feet but Kelvins lathe is a big floor standing...

    Drill bit sizes

Hi all. I'm wanting to make my upgraded Jr Gentlemans pen which I bought a short time ago. I have the blank, kit and bushes so I'm pretty much set. However, the drill bit sizes are really odd. 10.5mm and 31/64". I have found a 10.5mm but I don't seem to have any imperial. 31/64" is...

    Brick pattern Corian

Hi Guys, I thought I would show you my first segmented pen - it's something I've been wanting to try for a while. I learned a bit about sequence of operations with this!

The Knee is on the Mend !

Big improvement with the knee replacement still a bit painful and clicks a bit but it's getting there. Me and our Aud have been working on renovating an old Atlas metal lathe over the past couple of weeks just a bit of electrical work and we're done. I will post a few pics of it when it's...
