    Cyclone Thuya Burl

This wasn't the easiest to do, and I found finishing it a challenge too it blocked really quickly, and you may notice the crack that was all the way through the blank - but I'm happy with the end piece. Regards Padster

    Two Perazzi Walnut

Hi All, After my last comment on Alan's post No your not seeing double and No I wasn't drinking! These are another two from a broken Perazzi shotgun stock, part of a collection of pens I am doing. These will be end of year prizes to achieving students at another local school.

    well, that was a bust

tried a corian segmented..glued up well, drilled it on my pillar drillar ( drill press )..trued it up, was dead square every way, but when id finished the hole was so far out end to end that the blank is un-usable..:sob:.gonna drill them on my lathe from now on...still, onwards and upwards

    Springs

OK I'm going to make this short. What way does the spring go on a refill? One end of the springs are wound tighter together on one side, does the tight end point towards the refill or away? Thank you

    More Spalted

Another spalted walnut but so different from the last. You just never know what will appear once you start turning. What you think its going to look like is not always what you end up with!

    Empress in Wenge

I just finished this one, love large pens but dislike kits where the cap can't be placed on the end! Regards Padster

    Not good

I turned a Celtic twist pen today using callipers to size it as I did not have the bushes for it. I actually like the turn, size is spot on. My problem is with the lathe, I had it on the highest speed with the 5 pulleys and I noticed that one side, on one end of the blank, sticks out. When you...

    A Right Old Pigs Ear

Made a Celtic pen using callipers once again, I struggle so much getting the measurements of the blanks spot on :sob: This pen is plagued with problems, one of them just makes no sense what's so ever to me. One end of the blank is level with the tip whilst the other end goes over to one side...

They say the measure of a good craftsman is how well he can hide his mistakes :-)

Mistral ballpoint in jet black acrylic, man that stuff is hard to work. So I had a few issues, firstly the acrylic bubbled and tore away at the thinnest part on the nib end, I had to take the nib section barrel to the disc sander and take about 3/8" off, this then meant I had to take the same...

Hi all, Well I'm glad to see the back of yesterday and yes we all have those days... I was trying to turn some Horse chestnut for a quick order.... Yep well I was waiting to have a new light delivered because the day I decided to start pen turning again it broke so I had to order a new lighting panel (LED).
