Pen of The Week 15 October 2018

This weeks choice made by Sawes goes to the Omega made by Mark (TQ Blanks). Scott said "As a relatively new member to the Forum Mark has shown that he can not only make some stunning blanks but can also transform them into an amazing pen" Here is the link to Mark's original post...

    Zephyr in Buckeye Burr

Last one for today and this is my favourite and a definite keeper. This is my first Zephyr and won't be my last. A really well machined kit with simple and perfectly fitting parts so easy to make up and a different looking pen from the norm

.243 Bullet pen with antler top

I do .308 bullet pens and a guy that bought 2 asked if I could make one from his .243 cases, I knew the slimline would need some jiggling about as the 7 mm tube wont fit through the .243 or 6mm, the guy sent me some antler as I had suggested he send me a case and antler from a stalking trip he...

    Another music pen

These are not the most practical pens to use due to the weight and I don't go out of my way to help this with the style of turning I have used, however they always get attention and make a statement.

    Make it simple, she said

A women came to me, telling me she loved a sherry tree that used to give shadow to her patio, but it died a few years ago. The wood was dry, she asked me to make a ballpoint pen with it. She added: "Make it as simple as possible, no clip, please show the wood". I was pretty interested, because...

    Foot stool

Been asked by my sister for a footstool with storage so I got on with the legs. Not perfect match but close enough, I should imagine that with practice I could get things like this a little close as i am so use to doing one off's. Now to make the rest of it I have already prepared the wood for...

    Help needed: Music pen

I've got a 50th birthday coming up for a friend, he's a musician, saxophonist. Does anyone know of any music blanks, or kits I can buy? Ideally would like a nice blank with notes that I could make a slimline from. I've seen the music kit on Axminster, but it doesn't look that attractive.

    Waste Liquid Acrylic

For those that make Acrylic Blanks I decided to pour the remainder of the acrylics into a separate pot and when full I would make it into something :thinks: Turns out my son pinched it and has made a wine bottle stop (photos later) but the remainder I managed to make a slimline pen. Waste not...

    Another pen wood this time.

I made this one today unfortunately they sold me the wrong bushings with the kit so I had to make a set of bushings myself. It did not come out exactly as I would of liked. I will make another set of bushings and have another go. The nib end is out I think it spoils the pen.

    Stainless steel bolt pens

Hi. Those of you who read my "Introduce Yourself" will know that whilst I make pens from kits using acrylics I particularly like making pens from other materials. Now that I am getting back into the hobby after a bit of a layoff I am posting some photos of pens made by me a couple of years ago...
