Hi all, A couple of Olive Sirocco's....the olive is from a work colleague and has come from a church in Cypress ( legally attained) these will be returning when permitted to go to the archbishop. The wood is 200+ years old and very very dry, it's fought me all the way....there were 3 blanks...

Hi All, Sirocco in Olive wood and Premo clay used for the Celtic Knot. Lost a little bit of clay but it turned out ok with a CA and sawdust fill. The wood had a lot of cracks as I got close to the finished size. It will all hold together with the CA finish.:thumbs: Olive wood pen. - YouTube

Well, did anyone hear the POP..... that was me pulling my finger out!! A very good friend has a holiday let in Cyprus, on his last trip he collected a piece of Olive wood about 70 years old....could I make a pen from it...heck yeah!! Err you sure this is olive?? It is rock hard and very bland...

Mornin' all, Does anyone have any preferences when finishing Olive wood for pens? I like this wood especially the colour, but adding finishes seems to distract from the look. I am aware that all finishes change the appearance to some degree but I need something that is less "intrusive" if that...

Finally got a bit of time to turn a pen. I had two off-cuts of holy land olive wood. Finished using Phil's melamine technique.
