Picked up a Spalted Apple blank today that was given to me by Woody, cut it to size for a JR Gents kit, put the clip half blank on the lathe to drill, all going well when the blank just snapped with a third left to drill .. What a shame as these blank are very nice indeed ..
Don't you just hate it when it does that. I had a Sierra tube stick halfway in while I was inserting it , I had to use a transfer punch but it cracked the blank and distorted the tube:rolleyes:
I would drill the rest out Jim and then stick the two halves on the tube as close and as best you can. then I'd create some sawdust with the belt sander or the likes and force dust in any gaps before dropping some thin ca on it.
