I have a customer who has ordered a couple of items and they are for presents for family in Australia I know they are quite strict on what you can import but as far as I can see finished items should be ok if no sign of insects or bark, looking for our Aussie friends to confirm if there would be an issue

Good time to ask, with finished pens I have received swaps from the Uk , France, USA, Canada and many other countries without any incident ever. Rarely have they been opened by customs, however raw blanks have on occasion then cleared, the one terrible giveaway in timber is any evidence of insect or worm activity such as dross or a hole. My most recent purchase from China of many Manufactured pens from many sources in that country all arrived normally mostly through Hong Kong. The best thing is to name the parcel correctly for customs, eg Wood Pen etc. As they will be sent from the UK they qualify to family in Australia as true gifts.

Peter.

Hi Peter they will be in airline luggage reading website you are susposed to declare wood as far as I can read finished and coated items showing no signs of insect activity should be ok but just double checking

I have sent a couple as gifts without problem as long as the custom declaration form is filled in I do not think there would be a problem

I've taken wood pens across on 3 occasions and my brother on 1 without problems apart from being grilled about the ones made from used 308 cartridges. :funny:

Some were in pocket and hand luggage, others in hold suitcase though never posted any to OZ.

You have ticked all the boxes Alan, shouldn't be a problem if they are finished.
