Well I had to make a start sometime! either it will work or it will fail...

Here's the tec mould I used for the cast..:rolling:

Was too big for the 3jaw chuck so had to thread a bit of brass for a mandrel.

It has a small void in the back but don't think that will hurt.

Now have to make a pattern form the old plastic one and then the fun will start, as I will be using a Dremel for the teeth, prob have to make a jig for it. :thinks:

any ideas? :sob:

Yes I made a clamp device for the Dremel to fit the tool post then used the indexing device for accuracy.

I can,t access my pics because Microsoft and Google upgraded and wrecked my access to pics..

Pic of my Hercus the attachment fits where the tool post is. Then use a suitable cutting tool.

The attachment is housed in an aluminium extrusion easily fitted and removed.

O.K. so seeing as I will never make another one and it matters not because I don't make threads on the lathe, and I can still use the lathe anyway, I decided to use the Flintstone method :rolling:

Why not, cost v product who cares, time smelting. I gave a mate various billets of high grade aluminium a month ago in the round. Offcuts sold as scrap prices initially. Soon I will be photographing the simplest of furnaces at a Knifemaker extraordinary, just waiting for spring to really appear.
