I have had a couple of Sierras that I gave as presents last year returned to me where the mechanism seems to have sheared off any one have this problem

The only thing I can think of Alan is people thinking that the upper part of the pen twists off in order to change the refill and therefore over twisting the mechanism.

Yes I've had one shear internally Alan it was about 18 months ago & was a Timberbits kit, fortunately I had another kit so striped the pen down & replaced the parts.
