    A fancy slimline pencil.

Well turned this fancy slimline pencil using walnut I think. Finished with thin CA glue, really enjoying the learning and practicing. Am going to try a melamine finish on my next attempt!!! Sorry the pic isn't clearer but will sort that for next post!!

    Pen kits

Suggestions please for a cheap supplier of pen kits, I have only been playing around with the lathe and bits for a few month, helps with rehab from a stroke, and I have made a few pens for friends and family but have now finished all the slimline kits I had in stock.... I probably would want to...

    Bock Section Applied

I used blue ebonite (with slight black grain lines) for the barrel and cap of this pen. The trim is done with black ebonite, and the white rings were credit cards in their last lives. (It was actually my secretary’s AARP card, though I am certain that she is far too young for membership.) The...

    One Step Further

After my success with Golfers Pens I though I would take the subject one step further with this pen. It's a slimline called TIGER WOOD pen, yes the wood is Tiger. Glen:winking:

    Whiskey

(Get your attention? That's what I thought.) Interesting lesson learned this morning. I posted photos of a kitless fountain pen I made on Facebook. Nice pen (if I do say so myself) - red/black ebonite with black ebonite trim. Buried pocket clip and Bock #5 nib. Facebook Response: Six...

    Second Attempt (and not acrylic!)

"Endeavor to persevere." -Chief Dan George In my quest to make pens without kits, this is my second go at it. This one is Cumberland ebonite with black ebonite trim and section. The nib is a Bock #5 in gold plate with Beaufort reservoir. The clip is also gold plate. (It also is from...

    Kitless Rollerball

Hey, folks - Another question. Has anyone used ebonite for the nose cone on a rollerball kitless pen? I am trying to avoid introducing anymore metal than possible. Just curious if anyone has done it and if it held up. Any suggestions for alternate non-metal materials other than ebonite? Let...

    First Successful Kitless Fountain Pen

(First "successful," because I have a box full of caps, barrels, sections, and other "less-than-successful" parts.) This one has an olive & black ebonite body and cap. Trim and section are plain black ebonite. I finished it with a Bock #5 and Beaufort reservoir and a silver pen clip from my...

    Advice for finishing ebonite?

Wet sanding (to 15K) and plastic polish give me a great finish on acrylic and CA. Ebonite is a new challenge? And thoughts would be appreciated.

Im having an issue with an ebonite section I turned- basically is has swelled / expanded and I suspect its from being left in my car in the heat? Can anyone shed any light in this? (It has expannded to the extent that the cap will not now go on.

    Resin and Black Locust.

Hi All, Well they don't all go to plan. ;-) When I was turning the cap part of the pen today I could not understand why it was in such a bad state with the huge air bubbles. Once I started editing tonight and looking at the footage from the other day of casting I was then reminded that my...

    1st Casting Attempt

Finally took the plunge and attempting my first casting. Bit of a learning curve. Afraid I may have put in a little to much red dye, would it affect the curing time?
