    Boxed Oak set - 2

A pair of Gold plated FP/RB Gent pens in French Oak wood with a bespoke Spalted beech wood box. This French Oak is lighter in colour than the English Oak I turned. Less figuring as well, grain doesn't show up quite as well. Spalted Beechwood speaks for its self I think.:whistling:

I am not new to this site though it has been a few years since i was last here. Anyhow down the the topic, i have been turning all the time but fancied getting into using a vacuum pot. I bought a pump and pot from FB but wanted to try this out. In my bowl turning i have come across many wild...

    Waxing a pen

I was chatting to someone a few weeks ago and they told me that they always wax a pen regardless of the finish (C.A, melamine etc) or if it is Acrylic or wood. Since then it has been revolving around my head as to why they would do that. I was going to ask on here but feel you may all be tiring...

    At last

Been rather ill so far this year and have done very little turning wise. Rather than just stare at the bedroom, with great effort I decided to get myself to the shed and try turning a pen. Started turning an Atrax on some coloured ply but I made a boo boo on the gluing and got nowhere. Instead...

Hi all Another wood/acrylic combo, this time in a blue maple burr with sky blue pearl section, threads and finials. It has silver accent rings and a Jowo no6 nib. The pen is fully lined in both barrel and cap. This wood is stabilised (I buy it like that) and I finish using the melamine...

    Some small jobs.

I have but with matching wood I have a number of little jobs. I need small circles professionally cut out of wood for an insert for a bookmark. I also need a paper knife entirely of wood. Plus a spurtle which would need turning out of the same wood. The wood is fine teak unused and I would need...

    Finishing 2

Hi all, Rather than hijack a previous thread, it's made me think, so I would like your comments please.... Above is the selection I have for wood finishing, some good, some not so. We all must have a collection like this so I thought 'post a pic' good points/ bad points:banana::banana:

    Pipe stand/rack

Made this for some of my pipes. Black stinkwood (ocotea bullata). It is actually a lot darker than the pictures. Flash must have done that. The side view is a lot closer to the real colour. Black stinkwood is protected and difficult to get. This wood came from a recycled dresser. Still got a...

    Ribbons

Todays silly question live from Dronfield is, When turning things in wood I have noticed that I only seem to make fine dust and no ribbons whilst making whatever it is, this is not only on pens but bowls as well. If I am turning acrylic pens I do get ribbons albeit very thin and narrow ones...
