It's called market forces in the trade.

Or people are stupid mugs in real life.

They don't look around and realise the same thing is being sold for another purpose at a totally different price.

The metal cutting ones are sharpened at a different angle and as oils aint oils Carborundum can be very course in manufacture Ok for metal but unsuitable for timber. Thankyou Walter for your Video and others for your comments there is still more to have in this discussion I do like comparing apples with apples or draw comparisons based on manufacturing facts quality v quantity etc.

Kind regards Peter.:goesred:

Alex it`s supply & demand, & as Phill said folks don`t shop around.

Woodworking tips are the same price as metalworking, in some cases cheaper. some of my cutter blocks hold 42 tips & I definitely wouldn't be paying £7 each for them. :pounds::pounds:

I used carbide cutters on the first ones I made and they did work well and sharpened very easy by just laying them flat on a diamond stone and giving them just a few rubs but not as there not as good as the ones I used on the last one I made from this guy he dose the round and square tip the square ones Doug put up from axminster seem to be about the same and should work very well 2"(50mm) Radius Carbide Insert Cutter for Woodturning Chisels Easy Wood Tool Ci1 | eBay
