I have received my replacement chuck adapter, clocked it and it is running out by 6 thou. Don't manufacturers make things accurate these days?
Well it's better than 12 thou i guess.

Very few turners mike down their wood lathes, in my case still smarting from in inadequate manufacturing of wood lathes. My VL150 comes the closest I have experienced with a beaut ,balanced accurate lathe.

Persevering with yours accents the need for a proper washer to fit chucks. End of story in what would seem essential practice ie some safe means of locking the shaft to allow ease of removal.

Peter.

The trouble is, manufacturers know that most woodturners won't even notice a 12 thou run-out let alone a 6 thou one so woodturning lathes are cost engineered down to a spec that would never be acceptable for even a budget engineering lathe.
