Intresting that you are using a metal lathe. I also use a metal lathe for 90% of my pen turning. I have a wood lathe but I hardly use it at all. I am currently looking to modify a boring head to cut the ball end on the pen blanks.

Cheers :) I was a photographer before I was a turner. That's a Nikon D800E with a 24/70 lens in a proper lightbox.
