Chestnut Melamine Lacquer Problem

Ive used many cans of Chestnut Melamine Lacquer (Aerosol) sprayed over Cellulose Sanding Sealer and have had great results but today I opened a new can and sprayed to find:

1. The lacquer didnt dry as quickly as normal
2. As the lacquer dried it formed lots of tiny air bubbles leaving a rough finish

I replaced the nozzle form another can thinking this was the problem, but no different.

Anyone else come across this? - I assume I have a bad batch?

With the weather as cold as it is the last couple of days. I would take the can indoors over night and then shake the can as normal before use making sure the content is well mixed.

Some produsts don't like the cold a bit like me

I tried another (almost empty) can and it sprayed fine - so Im assuming I have a duff can

I have had this experience with clear laquers as well.I used a lot of different laquers on burl cap pen stands, onr thing for sure matte is a waste of time.

When that sort of thing happens it's tempting to doubt everything, including your own technique and the environment or circumstances in which it is applied. However, I think the fact that it didn't dry as quickly as normal is quite significant and I would say that the contents of the can is at fault here, rather than anything else. I would speak to the retailer where you bought it, or failing that, to Chestnut themselves - they are very helpful.

8 quid a can bloody Nora I pay about £4 a can from ebay auto spray I just sprayed a 20" bowl with it today

I'm in Northern Ireland Woody, so as far as aerosols are concerned I'm more or less stuck with what I can get locally as most couriers won't carry aerosols across the water. Is there any real difference between melamine and cellulose lacquers because obviously the stuff you buy for bodywork is cheaper.
