    Finishing Aluminium pens

Tried a quick search but to be honest I am not great with forum searches lol, I know I have seen Aluminium pens on the forum so just wondering how people finish them, I decided to experiment making an acrylic pen with a picture, thinking the brass tubes were a little thin & wanting the picture...

    Indexed Routing?

On the Lathe. Anyone done this. Did you buy or make a jig for the router etc, what router do you use? I’ve seen this “fluting jig” but it’s a bit expensive if I don’t end up using it much. Paul Howard Woodturner: Jigs and Things I’d also need some kind of division plates to fit my lathe as well.

    Cedar Bowl

Latest effort. Had terrible trouble with tear out at the bottom of the bowl but managed to get it all out in the end. Cheers Frederick (these were the correct way up pn my computer)

    Firearms time

Here’s a little matching pair. Bolt action Pen in a nice acrylic with a shotgun cartridge matching keyring with the leftover blank. And yes I know the pin is at the wrong end, as I drilled the brass to fit the ring holder I didn’t want to waste it.

    First actual closed end pen

Hi everyone, I recently acquired a grabber mandrel (single size collet chuck) because I wanted to try a closed end pen. Next up will be a double blind pen, maybe with a clip. Pen is a Beaufort Ink Mistral. You comments or critique are welcome as always. Best regards, Tom

    "Trying to rectify our mistakes"

Rather than hijack Alan's thread on "squaring the end of pen blanks". Following a disscuion with Phil ( which I'm not tech enabled to copy over Phils reply?) As we know it is so easy to remove to much of the pen blank end, wether by a disc sander or barrel trimmer. I thought I'd try to rectify...

    OAP!

Not a pensioner, but Ornamental Apple turned green and finished in Chestnut food safe oil. 5 1/2" x 1 3/4" The tree was in our front garden when we bought the house in 1991 but it had to come down in January as it was at its natural end.

Separating clip from finial- how to on a Sedona?

Hi guys :) I’m making a pen, a Sedona, as a Christmas gift for a Dr friend, and want to replace the standard clip with a medical one. I can’t for the life of me work out how to separate the original clip from the finial (I think that bit is called) on a Sedona. It looks like the finial is in...

Had this happen a few times now & running out of comfort pen rubber bits lol I did try searching the forums but anyone that knows me will tell you I am rubbish at searching forums. Apart from a couple of Burs which I was half expecting because my method of stabalising consists of trying to fill...

Been at the bird feeders again...

Hi I like doing these gives practice on a few techniques and I get something useful at the end which I can give away. These two have gone one off to neighbours the other apparently is off to America? As a little present. Kevin

    Celtic Knotwork

I have had this one in the pipeline for a while. (I work on it between paying jobs!) The barrels are from a custom blank from Tim McKenzie (@mckenziepenworks), and I think it is my very favorite of his work to date. It’s subtle and classy…but the diamond sparkle takes over in natural light...

    Mistral & Feathers

Mistral in a Feathers. Ringneck Pheasant Feathers on a Silver Pheasant background. The blanks are made by Marla Christensen in Canada. I love making these. I have tried to make the blanks myself but they end up like a gooey mess. Cheers Brad
