Hi folks, my name is Martin and i'm the resident newby. I have only just recently fired up a lathe (lockdown has its uses). I thought i'd start small, with turning pens. I have successfully turned a few slimline pens which turned out to make nice xmas stocking fillers. Now i'd like to move on...

Hi everyone, well I finally got my lathe up and running, so thank you to everyone who gave me pointers on where had them in stock. After a couple of trial pens, I turned this one, I wish that I had been a bit braver and turned it a little thinner, but I’ll remember next time. Hand cast alumilite.

Very happy with how this turned out, and glad to not be using CA :-)

Has anyone turned the CEO pen kit I need help, it says the drill is a 0.368" drill but I cannot find one at that size.:praying: Glen

Hi all another Christmas gift completed, This is a Wood river 24kt wrench pen kit dressed in a Mark Lewin blank (TQ blanks) turned absolutely sweetly and customer loves the colours in it

Has anyone ever turned a pen from an old snooker or pool cue ?

Ok so here is my latest pen, again a gift for family and I think it's maple but not sure so I have supplied a image of the wood I used. Pen was turned in short/end grain just to see if I could ( why not ) making my own rules. The pen is from Beaufort ink first of many I think, good quality kit...

Well at least the outside is near there had to give it a good soaking with sander sealer as some areas are a little soft. This is a rough turned piece donated by Frederick of this forum. I think I also inherited his camera skills(New computer so getting use to it). I just needed to turn something.

Had a couple of days from model making and turned an Ash bowl and coloured with spirit stain and finished with acrylic S/S and wood wax. The second item was a piece that I rough turned back in 2016 and decided to finish I believe it is Maple, Decided to leave this one natural and just finished...

A commercial blank turned yesterday and one of my own castings from a couple of weeks ago.

The last pen I posted divided opinion somewhat, much as I suspected it would. It was part for commission of three pens, the other two were Ceblox and this is one of them. If you haven't turned it before then it is very much a go-slow process. The finish is very nice and it feels very retro...
