    Feathered bowl

Thought it about time I did some turning so took a couple of hours out from doing the garden and working on another bowl which seems to be taking forever. Not sure of the wood as it is an old rough turned piece from some time ago which did not have any bark or leaves to identify it. Finished...

    (I was over the moon.

Was over the moon when a mate of mine a way back said can you use this. It took all my strength to move it to mine and fit it to the big drill I picked up from a garage sale that turned out to belong to my mate. I gave my other drill and various XY axis vices etc to a worthy mens shed. Peter.

    Ash bowl

    Resin pen

I turned this pink resin (for the Mrs) pen yesterday - the first resin blank I have tried. Turned ok, but transparent in places down to the brass. Are they all like this - the light coloured resin blanks ?

    First ones

Morning, new to the pen game. Turned averagely successful bowl type projects for many years - turned one pen blank ten years ago and then tried to drill the hole afterwards (!) - but have now converted with the initial obsession which I'm sure many will recognise. Attached the first attempts.

My efforts at a local charity craft fair

Hi all, I was asked to "do something" for a local cancer charity. Never displayed or ran a stall before in my life. It turned out to be a very enjoyable day especially as my Son and two granddaughters turned up. I sold four pens and gave two away and the small coloured bowl went as well...

    Wedding pen

I've made several wedding pens over the years, but none as important as this one. It's for my son's wedding. I love my future daughter-in-law, she is an incredibly loving and wonderfully unique person. She's a nurse in a prison, has a lot of tattoos, and wears camouflage cowboy boots to work. My...

    Newbie from Warwickshire

Good day, I am completely new to woodturning. I have just purchased a midi lathe, and have been busy setting it up, but as yet have not turned anything. I’m keen to get into pen turning, but not sure which mandrel to go for. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

    Yesterdays Project

I know you can buy acrylic pen stands but when you have the means & materials to make them yourself then it's more fun. Only thing I didn't have was an acrylic bender, just wanted something basic & a quick check on youtube sorted one out for me. Turned out I had everything I needed ut the...

    Two Faced

I had a thin piece of Oak which sat in the wood store for ages you know the type "I will do something with that one day". Anyway, I named this two-faced as the disc can be turned around. The centres one green and one red are from a very small burr that I cut into 1/2" thick pieces for use in...
