I had a go at doing a part dye stabilisation. I placed the blanks vertically in some dye and stabilising resin, and let capillary action draw it up to a bout a third.
I then stabilised in cactus juice. The red didn't go a deep as I thought, but it is a start at adding a little interest into the 'blander' woods. Anyway, it turned a treat.

Agreed, it was my first attempt. I didn't want the dye to go in the whole blank. I think i'll go for 3 times as long next time, see if I can get it in deeper.... Still it is fun learning :-)

I grow my Carnivorous plants in water by capil iary action first time I heard blanks soaking up dye, this I will try with some street tree BEB.
