The new way of turning pens

For me!...... After my escapades of having difficulty of turning pens due to numbness in the hands and not being able to feel the transitions between bushes and blank, so I had a chat with our Bill Mooney. Now he is one to inspire many due to his limited abilities, but he gave me some great...

It normally takes me about one and half hours to get to Yandles but thanks to road works and lots of Holiday traffic over three hours yesterday. Took that long I had to wait until today to set my new lathe up. All done now and a lot dirtier than in the photo. First impressions are that this is...

    On yer bike

With much less golf possible this year I wondered if I should get a cycle ( yeah I know all about keeping death off the roads ) so my flabber was truly gasted when my neighbour offered me this last week. A Dawes Nomad all terrain fully 40 years old but virtually as it came out of the...

    John Wayne.

This was a fantastic pattern to cut of the great John Wayne. I have used Cedar for the pattern and Yew for the frame. Cedar is a fantastic wood to cut and smells great. This was cut with a Hegner and Olson 2/0r blade. I just need to add a few coats of Danish oil and John will be ready for the...

    Leveche FP

Hi all, Another great quality kit from Beaufort. Leveche fountain pen in Rose gold. I wrapped it in Alumilite resin. Used Blue dye with a tiny bit of white to get the right shade. Plus this gives the blue a solid look. Very enjoyable project and a great kit to put together. Leveche fountain...

    Maple burl

Hi All, This was going to be for a Rollester pen kit but I decided not to fit the parts. The wood was pretty punky and I didn't do a great job of filling. I wanted to see how this lovely Maple looked with a finish, so I completed the process. Maple burl pen blank - YouTube

    Label casting.

Well it seems label casting isn’t the black art people make it out to be. I have cast my first labels this week and had great success. A lot of faffing about getting the sizing right. But I think they look great. Even sold one already.
