Had another great Turning training day.. and learnt some basics around turning .. Here's the efforts...not perfect but the first ones for me....

Hi all, This is the 1st Scirocco for me. It's a gold/gunmetal version dressed with yew from Neil Lawton and an Padaux Celtic Cross inlay. Very nice kit as allways from Phil, great quality plating and very smooth working transmission ! No need to dissassemble the body for changing the refill...

This was a simple project. I made various shapes with the pyrography iron and then filled them in with stains. Not great but its cheerful. George

Well had a great day today I managed at least 2 hours before having to give up, No turning however as I am still working on the truck, made the clearance lights and the complete tail light board. It will soon be finished and I want to get and turn a pen or two.

A quick shout out to both Scott from "Mr Blanks" and Vince at "Turners Workshop", great service from both when I needed replacement parts quickly. Can also recommend Scott's daughter Demi's laser engraved pen box's. I've only had a few blanks from Scott but after his speedy reply and quality...

Can you make blanks without a pot ,I'm just getting into and have no money but want to try and make my own blanks any help would be great.

I have been given an axminster precision pen turning lathe which comes with a 24x1 collet and axminster evolution mandrel. I have my full size lathe as well am am finding this second small lathe is great for doing my pens. The collet system is great but I would live to be able to drill my blanks...

My only carving over the festive season. Didn't want to trust myself with the chisels after a few drinks. First attempt at drilling holes for the eyes. Not sure if I like it. Anyway I wish every one of you a great New Year for 2017.

Hi guys, Made my first set of wedding pens. Very easy to turn and finish. These came from penbitszand kits. Made both from start to finish in one afternoon. No sealing or waxing, great! One is a Empress and the other a Alpha chrome and gold. Kelvin

The great grandson wanted to have another go at pyrography so i set him up and these are what he did on Saturday I spent the time putting a finish on them.

Made my first Tempest pen today using African Blackwood and Stabilised Spalted Maple. A great pen and one of the best click mechanisms.
