I've been keeping a secret from the wife......

.....and it's bloody difficult. Usually I have to make my own coffee when I'm busy but lately she's been sneaking into the workshop without warning coffee in hand and in other circumstances I'd be wondering what she's after but actually she's suspicious. "Whatcha up to?" she says looking at the...

    Fountain pen nibs

Nibs, .......... That's the very first time I have started a chat by saying nibs. I really like a fountain pen and hope to make a few this year, however I am slightly unsure how to identify a nib size. (OK make that I have no clue). To me the only difference between a #5 and a #6 are the...

Repeat pen order took me by surprise.

Before Xmas I was asked to make 10 pens by a business man to give to his best customers. Well it seems his not so best customers got to see the pens and asked why they did not get one. So he has asked me to make another 15 pens. I am not sure that's what I had in mind when I went down this pen...

I made this in November and the article came out in December but I was so busy teaching I forgot to post it here. Thought you lot might like this! I was asked to make a Cannon ball bowl which intriqued me somewhat! Apparently it is a tradition in Sweden to make a Mustard sauce to go with a...

    Gnomes for Christmas

My wife saw these somewhere and asked me what I thought. I said I would make a few and she could give them away. Fun to make. I added an eyelet so they could be hung from a Christmas tree. 6 are made up 4 pcs, body, hat, hat topper and nose. The one on the far right was the last one I...

    Speaking of yarn bowls

A couple years I co-wrote an article on making a jig to hold bowls and cut the hook to make a yarn bowl. It was a fun project and I enjoyed the challenge designing the jig. Feel free to add this to the tutorials section.

I was looking for something else and I found two of these kits, I had bought them when I first started to turn. Blimey I was shocked with what I found:duh: The original plan was to make one for dad and one for me. Well Dad doesn't need his any more guess, I will find a use for both of them...

    Just a quickie

If you make a slimline pen (for example) and put it up for sale on a website do you have to call it a "Slimline"? or can you call it anything you want?

    Blue pencil

Not a pen, nor is it acrylic, so I am not sure it really belongs in this forum but anyway... A couple of years ago I made my first ever pen related thing. It was a pencil for use in my workshop. The trouble is I used a sandy coloured fake snake-skin blank, which is an excellent camouflage...
