    Kirinite Pearl

I now refer to this pen making lark as a "full time hobby". Since the start of lockdown I've done quite a lot of it, much more than I had planned or expected. Just to prove the point I now have a logo, and went to the trouble of having it cast in sterling silver coins to add to the end of the...

    Hobby or business?

At what point does your turning go from a hobby to a business. If you already have a full time job but turn in your spare time then sell these items are you a business? If so, at what point do you register as a business and register to pay taxes? If you do a few craft shows and use a website or...

    Nib protrusion changed

Two years ago I made a Streamline for my son in law and now it has an odd fault. The point only extends about half what it did when I gave him it. He says he has not replaced the refill, so all I can think of is something has happened to the transmission. I could just press it in a bit, but I'm...

    First Acrylic Turning

This was the 3rd pen I've turned, "Sparkle Gold Inlace" on a slim-line. I cracked the first attempt as the brad point came thru the back of the blank, one of many lessons learnt.

At what point are we just assembling a pen

Just a question Do you ever ask yourself at what point are your just assembling a pen you purchased, rather than buying parts to to help create your masterpiece. After seeing the 50 cal pen kit, there was so little turning to do I would never be able to show it off saying it's hand turned...
