    A present!

We received a present today. A friend of mine from a bit further up North turns wood despite being registered as blind. He makes stuff and fundraises for a brilliant charity Blind Veterans UK - Rebuilding Lives After Sight Loss Thank you Bill Mooney!

    Newbee

Hi all thanks for letting me join. My name is Tom and I'm from Northern Ireland and have just started learning wood turning. Unfortunately I don't have my own lathe, but at present I am currently learning the different tools. Trying to get the touch with a roughing gouge but get it started OK...

    Latest pen

Hi Guys I was asked to make this for someone to give as a Xmas present. A lousy picture I need to learn how to use a camera. Those white specs on the nib area polished off.

    A bit of unusual Oak

This is one of the "wonky" blanks I posted a while back. The wood was given to me by the chap who actually planted the tree 50 or so years ago, so this is a present for him.

    Not my colour

Another rare occasion, I found this section of the site for showing pens:face: Made for part of a Christmas present a slimline with a streamline centre band and a home grown pink and white blank.

    Nice present

Not anything finished. But what would you say if this turned up as a Birthday present. The slabs it is sitting on are 18" square yew and holly and with the promise of more different woods

    Christmas present

As many know I make toys and also the occasional Intarsia work as well as the turning. Anyway I had some gift cards for Axminster for a present so yesterday about 2 pm I ordered a little toy to add to the workshop I asked for it to be sent standard delivery so did not expect it until the new...

    Pair of Skulls

These are PSI Skull pens, in antique copper. The blanks are Rhinos, called Marinara Sauce. One is for my sister's birthday present, and the other is for my friend Hanna's. I think the blanks really compliment the antique copper finish.

My (UK) boss is from Australia (Tasmania) and is heading back there at Christmas time. She wants to take a present to her friend's husband, who does some pen turning, but isn't sure what to take. What sorts of things are hard to get down there? What do you think would be appreciated most? I had...
