First pen since about Oct 2016

Due to health problems this is the first pen that I have turned in a while. The blank is a Conway Stewart blank and finished with Farecla profile 300 and 500.

    Gouge Cam!

You'll either see a symphony of beautiful shavings coming off the tool, or be made nauseous by the roller coaster ride! Won't know myself until I find time to try it!:funny:

Not enough time, so some pen stock is going to have to go

I seem to have less and less time for pen making, so I have taken the decision to slim down my far to bigga pen kit & pen blank stock, somehow over the past 2 years or so I have amassed over 300 pen kits and still have around 400 blanks, so these are going to be slimmed down by about 50%. So...

Hello from Goose Creek, South Carolina in the US.

Hey everyone, Just joined the forum. I'm always looking to learn new techniques and see other turners' projects. I just started turning about a year ago, and I love it. I mostly do pens and other small turnings, and am getting ready to start doing some kitless pens. I live in South Carolina...

Need a Dummy's Guide to Threading.

I need a dummy's guide on how to cut threads on a lathe, I vaguely remember doing this a high school but the memory has dimmed a bit in the last 40 or so years since. The high quality loose leaved photo copy chinglish manual is a waste of time reading it. I want to cut a 3/4" 12tpi thread. How...

    The Forum is mended!!

It's been a tough and irritating few months, as everyone here will attest to. Since taking over the reigns from Jim last September, and migrating everything to a new server, the forum has been plagued by niggling little problems, ranging from not being able to send a PM on occasions, to being...

    Missing Aspen Clicker

This pen went missing almost a year ago. Moving some 'stuff' around and there it was. Not sure if I posted it at that time.

    Back in Action!

No, I'm not new to the Forum, but pressure of work and other commitments have kept me away from the Forum and away from pen turning for nine or ten months, so it feels like I am starting again. I turned on my lathe a few days ago for the first time in ages and have now completed six pens. The...

    Yandles Event

I said i would say what their event was like on another post. There was just one guy doing any turning and he was causing the card readers for purchases to keep dropping out so it did make a bit of a queue to form but nothing serious. On the up side the shop was huge, it was full of things that...

    Reaction Time Test.

This simulates you in the driver's seat of a car. You're driving down a road, when you see a big red hand flash in front of you. You have to put on the brakes. Then, the Reaction Time Test tells you how old you are, when it comes to driving. The test is based on reaction times of 2,000 people...

Lots of Chatter about another Finish.

On the IAP there is talk of a finish that uses Black Light to set it, touted as better than, far superior to CA etc. Our Dentists are using similar glues etc every time they get a chance so it must be relatively safe along with mercury based fillings being phased out. The usual talk of high...
