Thanks for the comments, much appreciated

Managed to get a little more done today, first off I planed up some timber to make braces for the base shelf

These were fixed with pocket screws then the shelf was cut from 3/4" multi layer ply & fitted

I've started to glue up the timber for the apron so hope to get on with the top on Sunday.

Size does matter Doug your fitting up is going gang busters mate, so clean and precise when I saw the pocket joints I thought why alol underneath in the long run then I realised this is what a careful man does. Ripper mate.

Once again thanks for the comments

After a hectic weekend I've managed a little time on the bench today, the glued up aprons were taken out of the clamps, planed to thickness & then housings routed for the legs.

I used a couple of off cuts to retain the travel of the router which gave the desired result on the front apron

Repeated on the back apron here they are dry fitted

Next job is to run them through the moulder to form a rebate for the ply to sit in after which hopefully it will start resembling a workbench.

I hope so young Jim.

I picked a vice up at the weekend so I've had a couple of hours fitting that into the front apron this evening, I'd forgotten what a fiddle they can be

This afternoons has been quite productive, the front & back aprons were rebated for the two layers of 3/4" plywood, they were fitted to the bench & the plywood cut to fit.

After which rebates were cut on the ends of the these aprons for the end aprons to fit against, this is what it looks like at the minute dry fitted together, gluing & pegging will be tomorrow's task.
