    Starter advice

Hi, sorry if this is an obvious problem, I've just started making pens -well haven't made one yet. I've made a blank drilling jig and glued the brass barrels in, but they don't seem to want to get on the mandle, got one jammed half on before it pushed off the wooden blank then it was a difficult...

    Threading wood

I have tried putting a thread on some wood doweling using my metric metal tap and die set (12 mm) and it was a failure, it looks like the tread is too fine for wood. What thread size do I need for wood any help and advice would be gratefully accepted.

    Storing sanding discs

I have the Simon Hope sanding system with the three sizes of discs. I wanted to build a unit to store them in their respective sizes and grits. Anyway came up with an idea of small plastic containers but where to find them in the size I wanted. One wife to the rescue she went into B & m store...

    Squaring Blanks

Sorry for the newbi question, but what is the recommended way of squaring off barrels when they are not metric? I was looking at trying out some pens which have an imperial barrel size (Such as the Omegas from TM) or odd metric size (such as 9mm). I don't own a disc sander, so is there a...

    Corn cob

One of my cousins feeds squirrels in his back garden. How saves the cobs. Not sure why but it worked out for me. When I asked if he had any to spare:ciggrin:he delivered 3 large sacks of around 400 cobs. I sent anyone on IAP that would cover the postage a medium size flat rate box. I...
