I have just bought a second hand record DML305 lathe, just three months old. When i get it all set up the working height is different from my old lathe, nothing really wrong there. I though easy peasy i'll knock my self up a timber stand for it, no trouble. Then came to pricing up the timber...

Hi all.....OK what am i doing wrong.... In my quest to move from CA as a finish i have gone to melamine finish (chestnut) but i just dont have any luck...i applied 3 coats to a pen on Friday and then today rubbed it 'lightly' with burnishing cream on a cloth...and then buffed with a clean cloth...

Haven't turned a pen since I demolished five serpentine blanks so had a go at turning a bowl I believe the wood is sycamore (could be wrong though) will now have to figure out how to remove the holding piece on the bottom :thinks:
