    Stupid Stupid Stupid

Stupid Stupid Stupid well that is what spud from Bob the Builder says and I think it applies to me. I was looking for a laser printer on free cycle and someone offered me one which I now have at home still trying to get a driver to load. Anyway it was Bl**dy heavy and I just made my back go out...

    Back still bad

Well my back will not let me stand for long to do any woodwork of any kind, so I found some modelling ply left over from my days making radio controlled boats. Anyway I thought I would have a play with my new Birthday present and get a little practice in on using it. This is the first result...

    Help needed with finishing problems!

Hi all, This is a long post, I apologise, but I am sure I will get some help on a completely new (for me) set of problems regarding finishing! In broad terms this is about my work piece not holding its finish or the finish simply ‘disappearing’…:noway1: I am making a TM Alpha fountain using...

    Another Wizard

Here is my latest shelf wizard I decided to give this one a little pipe. It makes him look quite chilled out. Just got back off a weeks cruise last night. Yesterday it was tee shirt and shorts, today it's thermals and hot water bottle. Hey ho.

    HELP with SIERRA PENCIL KIT

I have purchased 4 SIERRA PENCIL KITS from Penkits UK. Just turned one and I am not happy with it or I am doing something wrong on assembling. When you eventually get the lead out you cannot turn it back. How and where do you store spare leads. Anyone had experience of these pens. Glen:sob::sob:

    Back in the shed

Well after having most of the summer away from the workshop / shed and any pen turning its time to get back into it. Lots of work to do in the workshop first to find the lathe & other tools, can't believe i've managed to accumulate so much stuff over the last 6 months that just seems to have...

After a 13h night shift to Croydon and back to Notts there was something stopping me going straight to bed ;) Cheap paper potted fake flowers from tescos bought about a month back, £3 for a set of 3 and a scrap piece of African Padauk wood. The finish is my own cook up of abrasive paste to...

Hi, Guys! A defaulter returns to the fold! Had a coupla months off from posting, but have checked in a few times a week. Firstly, I've noticed that we've gained a few more members - a belated big welcome to you all! Been keeping my hand in on the pen-making to avoid my machines/tools going...

Thank you so much Mr Mooney

For the first time ever Vic has let me have access to the Forum. I received a fantastic gift in the post yesterday. Bill sent me a pen that he had made from a piece of 1000 year old Oak from Durham Cathedral. Being a Durham Lass or perhaps an Old Girl now, it was such a pleasure to receive such...

Chrome Sedona Rollerball with home grown resin

This is a Chrome Sedona Rollerball with home grown resin, but it is not my home grown resin, but one of Derek's/Dalboy. I back painted the blank with blue spray paint and it has had a dramatic effect compared to the offcuts which I left without back painting. Peter

    Pine cones and resin

I wanted to back paint the blanks white and the tubes white to show the contrast between these and the ones I back painted Black, but I had no white spray paint and my wife let me use some white nail polish, but I didn't get the inside of the blank covered well nor the tubes so I didn't bother...
